1. How did you start becoming involved in filmmaking/performing?

Like many kids, I got my start becoming involved in school. Not working for the schools' closed circuit TV station but rather for any class project that required the use of a visual aid. This was the perfect excuse to make a video! Junior year of High School I became aware of how much fun filmmaking was, from shooting to editing I enjoy the entire workflow of making film. Now almost five years later in college, I have found a great group of friends that share my film aspirations. With this group we make as many short films as possible to build up our personal and collective reels to eventually break into the industry in whatever way possible.

2. How did you come up with storyline for this Short Film?

I can't take credit for coming up with the storyline for "Detonate", only for its editing and animating intro sequence. This short film was a goofy exercise for our little movie making collective. The overall quality of the completely over the top musical is pretty overlaying the humorous music. As the editor I will say that the piece was initially a few minutes longer which allowed more of the story to come out but alas in five minutes I believe we accomplished a fun yet polished piece of entertainment.

3. What is your favorite movie and why?

The favorite movie question is always one that haunts me. I really never have an instant singular answer as I enjoy so many movies for so many different reasons. I guess though, for the sake of choosing Bottle Rocket by Wes Anderson is my most common answer. Wes Anderson' movies speak directly to my sense of humor; they're both off the wall and grounded in their own form of reality. In addition, his films are not only incredibly funny; they are also beautiful to watch. Unlike common teenage comedies, Anderson's films are targeted at a slightly more sophisticated presentation. His stark, yet detailed framing always seems to add to the dark humored story he is telling and has truly become his own original style.

4. Who is your favorite actor/actress or director and why?

My favorite director, as you know from previous question is Wes Anderson. His films exude comedy, drama and visual style. I am an editor/animator and with that come an inherent appreciation for, in lack of better word pretty pictures. Wes Anderson's movies not only offer these pretty pictures but also a story and eccentric characters that act to fill the images with heart. Unlike Hollywood blockbusters, which of course have impressive cinematography with almost vapid plots, Anderson is able to achieve the best in both worlds, creating a true full movie experience.
