Leana Wen
A Chinese native displaced to the U.S. by the Tiananmen Square massacre, Leana Wen is no stranger to injustice. Since leaving Shanghai she has lived in Mormon Utah, inner-city Los Angeles and now St. Louis, as a student at Washington University's medical school. Wen's interest in medicine is born from a passion to deliver proper care to the world's neediest people.
Will Okun
In his own words, Will Okun is "charismatic, handsome, muscular, stylish, articulate, hilarious, intelligent, tenacious and innovative." Oprah wants him on the show and young people hang on every word he speaks. So begins the winning essay of a teacher and photographer who has made it his life's work to capture human joy in otherwise joyless circumstances.
