Activism: mtvU - Point Foundation Scholarship 2007

mtvU + The Point Foundation =
$10,000 scholarship for LGBT Students

For the third year in a row, mtvU and The Point Foundation have partnered to celebrate and empower lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students and activists and offer a $10,000 scholarship to one of them. We understand that paying for college isn't easy - and LGBT students already face unique challenges that can make it even more difficult to cover the tremendous cost of a college education. From job discrimination to being financially cut off by their parents, LGBT students often learn firsthand why it can be difficult to foot the tuition bill.

Benjamin Ancher, mtvU-Point Scholar 2007

The 2007-2008 mtvU Point Scholar has been chosen! Benjamin Ancher is the recipient of the $10,000 scholarship from mtvU and The Point Foundation. Benjamin, who will be a sophomore this Fall, is studying Gender and Sexuality Studies at New York Univeristy and strives to pursue a position in the media and television industry so he can continue his social justice advocacy work after he graduates. "I hope I can attain a position of high visibility so I can use my success to keep debate concerning LGBT issues in the lime-light and a constant part of American and global culture," he says.
